Pierre Marie Giraud is showing work from designers and artists including: Magdalene Odundo, Ron Nagle, Sterling Ruby, Yo Akiyama, Alain Vernis, Alev Ebbuzziya Siesbye, Annick Tapernoux, Barbara Nanning, Chun Liao, Fukumoto Fuku, Geert Lap, Jean Girel, Kazuo Takiguchi, Kristin McKirdy, Louiselio, Marie-Noëlle Cardijn, Martine Bedin, Nadia Pasquer, Ritsue Mishima, Tony Marsh, Valerie Hermans and Yoshiro Kimura.
At the fair, you will see three remarkable pieces by Japanese artist Ritsue Mishima, who is considered to be one of the most important artists working with glass today. Working in Murano, Venice, Mishima’s pieces are both informed by her Japanese heritage and the traditional Venetian glassblowing techniques. A retrospective of her work was staged this year at the Shisheido Foundation in Tokyo.
The gallery is also showing two important pieces from African artist Magdalene Odundo. The symmetrical vessel photographed above is unique. This ceramic piece was made by hand by Odundo in 2009 using a coiling technique. It is unglazed and burnished by hand. The piece signed and dated at the base.
