THE GLOBAL FORUM FOR DESIGN/
Today, journalist and curator Cedric Morisset moderated a conversation entitled “The New Wave: Trends in High-Tech Art and Design”with Bill Moggridge (Cooper-Hewitt), Tot Taylor (Riflemaker), Eric Gunther (Sosolimited) and Paul Cocksedge (Designer).
Bill Moggridge described how technology is not only influencing final art and design pieces, but how all art and design is being exhibited in museums and institutions. He says that at the Cooper-Hewitt they continue to introduce supporting exhibition materials such as podcasts and videos that follow the designer’s process. These media rich materials enhance the work and enhance the visitor experience. They also help educate and expand the audience.
Paul Cocksedge said he “sees technology as a material just like wood or metal. I think how can I use it to make a piece.” Paul mentioned he would be working on a project utilizing technology to light up the biggest Christmas tree in Convent Garden this December.
Videos showcasing Cosksedge’s recent technology projects and work by Eric Gunther was shown during the event.
