Established & Sons is known for its groundbreaking projects with leading designers, architects, artists and artisan studios. At Design Miami/ 2011, Established & Sons will be showcasing the acclaimed British design duo – BarberOsgerby. That’s Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby.
As part of the Design On/Site program, Established & Sons will present limited-edition low tables from BarberOsgerby’s Iris series. There’s a total of five variations in this series, but only three versions will make the Trans-Atlantic crossing to Miami.
The work’s name goes along way in explaining its visual composition and appeal. Iris means both the colored portion of the human eye and is the name given to the goddess of the rainbow in classical Greek mythology. Each table in the BarberOsgerby series has its own color spectrum and is constructed from a single geometric component, which has been repeated to form a tessellated ring.
In the series, there is a fine balance of visual beauty and cutting-edge technology that enables the pieces to work. The machined components are individually anodized creating a unique color specific to that single component. The process of anodizing dyes the color into the surface of the aluminum rather than coating it. This means that the aluminum can be seen through the colors.
“For Design Miami, 2011 we are very proud to present three limited edition tables from Iris by the internationally acclaimed design partnership, BarberOsgerby. The event is particularly noteworthy for us as this is first time the pieces have been exhibited in the US,” says , CEO of Established & Sons.
